Sixth-Inning Burst Enough To Lead Royal Varsity Highlanders Past Oak Park Varsity Eagles

Royal Varsity Highlanders defeated Oak Park Varsity Eagles 9-0 on Wednesday thanks in part to five runs in the sixth inning.

A ground out by Colten Rainer put Royal Varsity Highlanders on the board in the bottom of the fourth.

Royal Varsity Highlanders scored five runs on four hits in the bottom of the sixth inning. Dayne Peters singled, scoring two runs, an error scored one run, Peyton Visage was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, and Michael Tuttle hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.

Mason Tannous began the game for Oak Park Varsity Eagles. The starting pitcher allowed six hits and four runs (one earned) over four and two-thirds innings, striking out none and walking three. Dustin Dunwoody led things off on the bump for Royal Varsity Highlanders. The starting pitcher surrendered two hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out seven and walking three.

Luke Sater and Tyler Kutsch each collected one hit for Oak Park Varsity Eagles.

Royal Varsity Highlanders accumulated 10 hits in the game. Peters drove the middle of the lineup, leading Royal Varsity Highlanders with three runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Peters stole two bases. Royal Varsity Highlanders were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Dunwoody made the most plays with one.
