Oak Park Varsity Eagles Fall After Strong Showing By Royal Varsity Highlanders
Oak Park Varsity Eagles couldn’t keep up with Royal Varsity Highlanders and fell 18-1 on Friday.
Royal Varsity Highlanders got on the board in the top of the first inning after Dayne Peters singled down the right field line, Brady Hewitt singled to center field, and Caden Sramek hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.
Royal Varsity Highlanders added to their early lead in the top of the second inning when Noah Vasqez grounded out, scoring one run, and Hewitt singled, scoring two runs.
Royal Varsity Highlanders added to their early lead in the top of the third inning when Colten Rainer tripled, scoring two runs, Ethan Hall singled, scoring one run, and Peters doubled, scoring one run.
Cooper Orme homered to left field, scoring three runs in the top of the fourth for the Royal Varsity Highlanders.
Royal Varsity Highlanders scored one run in the top of the sixth on a solo home run to left field by Peters.
Tyler Kutsch led things off on the bump for Oak Park Varsity Eagles. The righty allowed 11 hits and 10 runs (six earned) over three innings, striking out two and walking none. Sramek opened the game for Royal Varsity Highlanders. The hurler allowed four hits and one run over five and one-third innings, striking out six and walking two.
Luke Sater, Henry Rizzotti, Kutsch, Max Brusca, and David Wan each collected one hit for Oak Park Varsity Eagles. Kutsch went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in.
