Oak Park Varsity Eagles Cling To Victory As Hoover Varsity Tornados Nearly Erase 4-Run Deficit

Oak Park Varsity Eagles got out to a 4-run lead in the third inning and held on for a 7-6 victory over Hoover Varsity Tornados on Saturday. Hoover Varsity Tornados closed the gap by scoring on a sacrifice fly, a single, a single, and a single.

Oak Park Varsity Eagles got on the board in the second inning after Matt Leehey singled, scoring one run.

Hoover Varsity Tornados jumped back into the lead in the top of the third inning after Owen Marks hit a sacrifice fly, and Jordan Mahler singled down the right field line, each scoring one run.

Oak Park Varsity Eagles flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the third, scoring five runs on four hits to take the lead, 6-2. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Aaron Berro that drove in two.

Hoover Varsity Tornados tied the game up in the top of the seventh thanks to three singles. Hoover Varsity Tornados tied the game at six on a single by Alex Weimar.
